RESIDENTIAL SOCIAL HOUSING
AIRDS SENIORS

This project, for 31 seniors housing dwellings in Sydneys outer ring suburb of Airds Bradbury is a sensitively scaled multi residential development occupying three street frontages at the head of the stage 04 block structure. Focused around a courtyard each apartment enjoys views and outlook to the street and into the private landscaped courtyard that forms a new outdoor living room for the residents. Robust materials, and key inflections in the detailing lift the overall composition in keeping with the sites position at the corner where it enjoys increased density and amenity. The deep soil landscape setback forms connected soil corridors to the internal courtyard to ensure healthy and divers canopy growth. A variety of communal spaces complement the landscape courtyard to foster, and promote social interaction amongst the residents. MAKO Architecture and Studio Zanardo collaborated closely to produce the concept design and development application with careful resolution of the floor plans to maximise accessibility and amenity for residents, bold selection of materials for the elevations and optimised techniques for efficient construction.
